Though many students (and teachers) come to her with medical questions, she actually is not a doctor. Brewer has been teaching Honors Human Anatomy and Physiology at Berkeley High School in AHA since the 2008-2009 school year.
Gorrin attended Berkeley High as a student, where they did theater tech, Best Buddies, and dance. They were often found in Ohlone Park on Sundays attempting parkour and gymnastics, and playing tackle sports with koosh balls. They have been teaching math in AHA since 2015 and are proud of bringing a data science course to Berkeley High.
Jenn Hartman grew up in rural Washington, finding a home in the punk scene when they were not exploring the outdoors. They’ve been a member of the AHA community since 2019, where they’ve become a fixture on the junior team. Widely known as one of the kindest teachers at Berkeley High, Hartman developed, fought for, and got approved BHS’s pioneering Queer Lit class. Hartman has never owned a car–if you want to catch them, you’d better bike fast.
A transplant from the South and crystal enthusiast, Jumari Callaway has been teaching World and US History at Berkeley High School in AHA since 2022, and is teaching African American US History for the first time this year.
Miriam Klein Stahl is a New York Times-bestselling illustrator of [Rad American Women A-Z and Rad Women Worldwide](http://www.radgirlscan.com/). In addition to her work in printmaking, drawing, sculpture, paper-cut and public art, she is also the co-founder of the Arts and Humanities Academy at Berkeley High School where she’s taught since 1995.
Christopher Hondros holds a Certificate of Byzantine Music, and has danced and directed Greek folk dance for over 20 years. He has also judged at a Greek folk music festival as well. He’s been in the AHA community since 2018, and has been working on integrating art preservation and art conservation in his Chemistry courses.
John Becker is a very tall man who loves teaching comic books, dystopian fiction, and film analysis. He’s been part of the AHA community nearly since its inception. He has worn many hats in Berkeley Federation of Teachers over the years and his kids are both enrolled in Berkeley schools. He loves plants (especially aloes, cacti, and California natives), surfing, and camping in the redwoods with his family.
Emma Aiyanna Auer has been dedicated to childcare service since 2013. In addition to supporting youth, they are also highly invested in political, social, and environmental activism. Auer is new to the AHA community in 2023! As a teacher with indigenous ancestry, they are excited to provide a unique perspective in the social studies curriculum. Outside of the academic year, Auer works at a circus and performing arts camp teaching children of all ages how to juggle.
A parent of two Berkeley High School graduates (class of 2017 and 2020), Christie Riedell has worked at Berkeley High since 2010 and has been a case manager for students with IEPs since 2015. When not at Berkeley High, she is most likely in her kitchen trying a new recipe or planning her next trip.
